Project Myo New Street Square

Stamisol Safe One has been specified to protect the long-term condition of the external wall system and prevent the build-up of condensation in the insulation layer

Serge Ferrari supplied the award-winning Stamisol Safe One breather membrane for Myo New Street Square, the latest addition to one of Central London’s most prestigious commercial developments. The first phase of the New Street Square project was developed by Landsec in 2008 and transformed the area into a vibrant campus with four office buildings clustered around new public realm and retail facilities. The development was the result of close collaboration with the City of London, The Goldsmiths, local residents and council representatives, which enabled Landsec to complete the second phase in 2016 with the construction of 1 New Street Square. Landsec's further investment in New Street Square is to transform the 3 New Street Square building into six floors of flexible, equipped office space, meeting rooms and event space - all under the Myo brand. This will ensure that the building retains a modern flair and attracts a high-profile clientele. Myo's clients will enjoy stunning 360-degree panoramic views of London and St Paul's Cathedral.

Stamisol Safe One was specified to protect the long-term condition of the external wall system and prevent the formation of condensation in the insulation layer. Its innovative design has led the way in membrane development. It is the first breathable membrane in the UK to combine a Euroclass A2 fire rating with W1 water tightness.

ITP Account Manager, Marisa Schofield, said: “We are delighted to contribute another specification in support of Landsec, a renowned developer which owns and manages a diverse portfolio of offices, retail and leisure representing some of the most successful and recognisable property assets in the UK. We recently supplied Stamisol Safe One for Landsec’s iconic Piccadilly Lights development. Along with its A2 and W1 credentials, Stamisol Safe One offers a range of other performance attributes which make it a go-to choice for high-profile projects like Myo New Street Square, including exceptional breathability, waterproofing of 7000mm and UV resistance of 5000 hours.”

Stamisol Safe One gained industry recognition in 2022 when it scooped Product of the Year in the Façade Design and Engineering Awards.

A new need for fire safety

In buildings higher than 11 m or high-risk buildings, where mobility may be an issue, fire-fighting control and evacuation is only possible to a limited extent. In order to develop future-oriented concepts in fire safety, the façade membrane is an essential element when incorporated into a wider fire engineering strategy.
