Stamisol Safe One featured at one of Westminster’s most desirable addresses
Enhancing the fire safety concept essentially
Serge Ferrari have supplied the Stamisol Safe One advanced breather membrane for a façade refurbishment at the St. John’s Building in London, where an elegant Edwardian mansion has been transformed into a range of luxury apartments representing one of Westminster’s most desirable addresses.
Originally built in 1934, the St John’s Building has been redeveloped by Ballymore Properties to create a selection of one, two and three bedroom properties along with penthouses. Located within a short distance of the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey, the high-rise complex provides spacious reception areas, 24-hour concierge, valet parking, underground parking, and a leisure suite including a gymnasium with sauna and heated plunge pool.
Our UK distribution partner ITP in York supplied Stamisol Safe One to Park Refurbishment for installation within the building’s external wall system. This façade membrane combines outstanding breathability with a W1 rating for water tightness and an Euroclass A2 fire safety rating. Its A2 classification goes above and beyond the minimum requirements under current regulations for residential buildings over 18m in height.

Fire safety for the complete external wall system
Marisa Schofield, in charge of this project at our UK distribution partner ITP explains: “Stamisol Safe One is having a big impact in the UK market. The product is attracting specifications for major new build, refurbishment and façade upgrade projects at prestigious city centre addresses from London to Manchester. Breather membranes are currently required by law to have a minimum Euroclass rating of B,s3-d0, which is lower than the A2-s1,d0 rating required for cladding under post-Grenfell regulations. Many developers and contractors have concluded that there is no reason for that inconsistency if there are viable solutions that provide the necessary breathability and water tightness.
Unrivalled membrane performance
They are choosing this advanced façade breather membrane over B class products as they see it as an essential measure to maximise fire safety throughout the external wall and future-proof buildings from any further tightening of regulations.
In addition to it, Stamisol Safe One’s performance is unrivalled – as well as being Euroclass A2, it offers 7000mm waterproofing and UV resistance of 5000 hours. Those attributes are hugely beneficial to the safety and long-term condition of a building. They complement the breather membrane’s primary function in providing high water vapour permeability to control condensation within the internal structure.”
